Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the site is used to interpret the native American contact period with the English, the slave and later African American story and the life of all those who lived at Handsell.
Everyday during daylight hours, includes Chicone Village and garden, nature walk (brochures available) and exterior of the historic brick house. Six wayside exhibits tell the Handsell story. Docent tours available to groups by prior arrangement include the interior of the house. Special living history events listed on website.
