Join a ranger in exploring the lives of the unconventional women who shaped Fort McHenry's history throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Whether they were business owners or spies, the women of Fort McHenry's history broke away from their traditional domestic roles to pursue personal and military endeavors that ultimately showcased a gradual shift of women to the public sphere. During the program, visitors will learn more about Mary Young Pickersgill, maker of the famous Star-Spangled Banner, nurses stationed at Fort McHenry's General Hospital No. 2 during World War I, and many more. Admission to the Star Fort is $15 for individuals ages 16 and up. No reservations required.
