The Slave Dwelling Project will explore Dorchester County's sites of slavery and African American history with living history demonstrations, community conversations, and tours of key sites.

Overview:

The Slave Dwelling Project will explore Dorchester County's sites of slavery and African American history on the weekend of October 13-15, 2017. Programs will include living history demonstrations, community conversations, and tours of key sites. The Slave Dwelling Project raises awareness and understanding of African American culture and lifeways by spending the night in existing associated structures, and the racial healing group Coming to the Table will lead discussions related to the history of slavery. This event is presented by the Harriet Tubman Organization and the Nanticoke Historic Preservation Alliance in partnership with the National Park Service and the Maryland State Park Service. More details will be released closer to the event
