The graves of over 6,200 soldiers will be illuminated with tea light candles to honor troops who died at Petersburg and to recognize our military men and women on Veterans Day.

Park staff and volunteers will be stationed at various grave sites to tell the story of individual soldiers who fought and died during the Siege of Petersburg, while park volunteer and bugler Bill Bjornes plays Taps. Free.
** Due to space limitations, there will be no parking available at Poplar Grove National Cemetery. All park staff, volunteers and visitors are required to park at Richard Bland College (11301 Johnson Road, South Prince George, Virginia) where a free shuttle will provide transportation to and from the cemetery. The first shuttle will depart from Richard Bland College at 4:00 pm and will run continuously until the last shuttle departs Poplar Grove at 8:15 pm.
