Start with a discovery hike, then learn about wildlife in the park, and enjoy GPS adventures, fishing and more!
May 20, 2017 (8:00 am - 7:00 pm)
National Kids to Parks Day is a day for kids to come out and discover their Parks. In the process, it helps them discover themselves. Start with a Discovery Hike at 10 a.m. We'll meet at the Lakeside Diner, head out to meet the forest, and spy what we can spy. The hike will last about 60 minutes over moderate terrain. Comfortable walking shoes and bottled water suggested. At 2 p.m. come by the Legacy Wayside at the beach area and learn about the wildlife to be found around the park. We'll have a table of pelts, skulls and other items set up to help you understand how animal species are each unique in their own way, just like each of us. If you prefer, enjoy our self-guided activities such as GPS Adventures, or the Channel Cat Interpretive Loop Trail all day and every day. Drop a line in the lake. No fishing license required for those under sixteen years of age.
All the programs are free today, bring your kids out and play.
