Fossil Field Experience

Date(s):

Saturday, June 12, 2021 9:00 am  - 12:00 pm

Overview:

This Calvert Marine Museum program is designed for people who want to learn more about fossils: where to find them, how to identify them, what they can tell us about the past.

This program is for adults and children 8 and older, accompanied by an adult. At 9:00 a.m., you will meet CMM educators at Cove Point.
The program leader will teach a short lesson on local Miocene fossils and what to look for. From 9:30 to about 11:30 a.m., you will explore the beach to search for fossilized shell, bone, and sharks' teeth. After fossil collecting you will work with the museum educator to identify any fossils you have found. The program ends at noon. $15 per person. More information and registration.
