Listen to your lure splash into the Chesapeake Bay as you cast your line into the water off the fishing pier.
Wait for a wiggle and nibble then reel in your fish. The fishing pier is a former ferry landing that juts out into the Chesapeake Bay and it is a great place to fish and crab. A park ranger will be assisting with knot-tying, lures, and casting. Forgot your fishing rod? That's ok. The park provides them and bait. This is a great program for adults and children new to fishing. If you get hooked on this family fun, the park's camp store stocks a full array of fishing and crabbing tackle and bait. An FIP (Fisherman Identification Program)is free and required at http://www.mrc.virginia.gov/FIP . $2/person, $6/family. Sign up at the Camp Store (757)331-3400.
