Apollo 11 50th Anniversary at Zimmerman Center

Overview:

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 by participating in the round-the-world Global Launch!

Join Susquehanna Heritage and the Captain John Smith Chesapeake (CAJO) National Historic Trail as we launch rockets and earn your Junior Ranger Spaceflight Explorer Certificate!

Columbia Crossing – Ranger Hour 10 am – 11 am

Become a Junior Ranger Spaceflight Explorer by making mini straw rockets and counting down a water rocket launch. Participants will complete their Spaceflight Explorer booklet and get sworn in by a National Park Service Ranger.

Zimmerman Center for Heritage – Stomp Rocket Launch! 1 pm – 2 pm

Early explorers like Captain John Smith were pioneers and inspiration for the first astronauts to land on the moon. Learn more about John Smith at the Official Visitor Contact Station for the CAJO Trail and build a stomp rocket to celebrate the round-the-world global launch for the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary. Become a Junior Ranger Spaceflight Explorer and be sworn in by a National Park Service Park Ranger.
