Commemorate the arrival of the first slaves in the United States at Fort Monroe with two full days of history, music, storytelling and more.

Saturday, August 24

9:30 – 11 am-Commemoration and Visitor Center Dedication Ceremony at Fort Monroe

11 – 5 pm- Hampton 2019 Commemorative Program at Fort Monroe. Food Trucks, cultural group displays, historical tours, living history, drumming and dancing presentations, youth performances, storytelling

12 – 4 pm-Black Heritage Tours sponsored by the National Park Service at Fort Monroe

1 – 4:30 pm-African Landing Day Program at Fort Monroe 

6 – 10 pm-2019 Commemoration Concert at Fort Monroe 

Sunday, August 25

3 – 7 pm-Day of Healing and Gospel Music Festival at Fort Monroe
